A century after Roy Chapman Andrews mapped the uncharted reaches of the Gobi Desert, a team of 30 explorers retraced his route on camelback. For two weeks, they lived in the desert - extreme heat, sandstorms, no support infrastructure. On their wrists were prototypes of the Nomad.

Feedback collected directly from expedition members informed a series of targeted engineering changes for the production-spec Nomad: a bi-directional bezel to enhance navigation and timing usability; a redesigned dial with more prominent cardinal markers and thicker index outlines; blue Swiss Super-LumiNova® applied more generously across indices and hands; and a differentiated North indicator on the compass bezel. A date function was added at the four o’clock position. The metal bracelet prototype was replaced by the StrapHabit® ribbed strap that was actually used during the expedition.

Each watch features an individually numbered caseback engraved with the RC Andrews Legacy Expedition graphic and inscribed “Official Timekeeper” and “Field Tested” - a permanent record of the watch’s origin.
